Groan

An assortment of things pained me today:

  1. I had to purchase a new copy of Windows XP. Oh yes; I know. XP = sacrilegious! However, this sale was a total necessity as my has Parallels crashed again and my gazillion-times-used XP key will no longer take. I suppose it’s smarter in the long run to obtain a new key and disc legally … but still. Boo Windows!
  2. Along the same lines, I had to do a great deal of IE6 browser testing for a wide variety of scripts at work today. Watching IE6 crash repeatedly as it feebly attempted to handle those that require a bit of thought on the browser’s behalf—though hilarious to witness the browser fail so greatly—was ultimately saddening … Because IE6 is still a browser both my workplace and my freelance clients require me to support, I must continue to deal with its shortcomings for the indefinite future. (Upgrade, people! Come. On.) This crashing, though, pales in comparison to IE6′s lack of PNG support, which is to me the biggest pain in the ass it delivers to we designers!
  3. … and finally …

Today was a long-overdue laundry day. Perhaps this chore is not so awful for those of you with in-unit washers and driers—but let me tell you that for the rest of us, it STINKS having to go down several floors to the basement to change loads and all that other fun stuff. And then there’s the matter of folding the clothes once they’re dry. Not an experience I enjoy at all! It’s no wonder 80% of my apparel can be found hanging in my closet.

Apologies for being cranky—I’ve been intensely stuck in Codeland since last Friday … Geek-city!
